Seriam os anos 90 o novo hype? Parece que no eterno "Meia-noite em Paris" que a gente vive, descemos do carro na última década do século passado, a estética, os relógios Casio, os bigodes, camisetas com temas do verão californiano, até o grunge e o que chamamos de "real emo" parecem ter ganho espaço novamente. Mas dane-se essa epígrafe na introdução para falar do álbum de estréia da Bear Fight, que só faz sentido para quem não conhece o caminho até aqui.

X-Mas City Boardwalk Riders é tanto um retrato dessa estética anos 90 quanto o resultado da soma da vida de cada um dos garotos que compõem a banda. As seis músicas do disco passeiam entre o grunge e o hardcore, bebendo da origem das bandas que os influenciam. Nesse disco é possível encontrar Samiam, Garage Fuzz, Jawbreaker, mas também Kerouac, Bukowski e, para os iniciados em Natal, o cheiro da maresia da Praia do Meio, a lama de um sábado chuvoso na Ribeira, ou o sabor da meladinha de "Tem Coragem".

Inclusive é daí que se explica o título, algo extremamente local, mas que se refere a um sentimento que pode nos ligar a qualquer lugar do mundo, a tantos outros jovens como nós.

Mas o tempero desse disco não é nem a maresia, nem a panela velha, mas a forma com que esses rapazes produzem sua própria vida e sua banda, e consequentemente esse disco, com toda a essência do "Do it Yourself". Gravado entre o estúdio e o quarto de casa, porém mixado pela dupla correria que captou essa essência e a despejou na mix Danilo Sousa e Fernando Uehara, do Bullet Bane. Um disco natural, espontâneo, autobiográfico, necessariamente real, que faz a diferença hoje em dia.

Com toda certeza um dos álbuns mais sinceros de 2016, que já pode fazer fila às produções do seu naipe no Brasil como Betterman, Kill Moves, Please Come July, sem dever nada a ninguém e mesmo que devesse pouco se importando em pagar.
