I saw a beggar through my window
With a familiar face
He was an old friend from school

He pretended he didn’t know me
I could understand him
Why he was hidding who he was

What kind of problem or excess

He wore old boots
Short pants, a smelly suit

What sort of thing could I

He was such a normal boy
So funny, very nice,
Far from dumb, quite bright

What on Earth had life did to him
And why he was living like that

If it was family stuff,
A bad love or too much booze

He reminded me from school
That I wasn’t that cool
He said I used to play the fool

Then I could realize

No one would want him around

He was such an annoying guy
Not funny, not so nice
Maybe dumb, far from bright
